ETSAKOR DIALECT:
A kpe erguer ni ormor; ama khai kpe abor ma li vhor.

TRANSLATION:
Preparation of a hoe is done for a child; but preparation of his hands is never done with it.

MEANING:
It is possible to equip a man for work with training, tools or machines; but it is not possible to help him do his work for him.

LIFE APPLICATION:
  When a child is mentioned in African Proverbs, the word has many areas of applications. It may denote the following: an infant, a learner, a novice, armature, beginner etc.
  The word ' hoe 'refers to Implements, tools, instruments, machines etc. Hoe is used figuratively in this instance, to symbolize training, skills acquisition, learning a vocation, professional education etc.
  The 'hand' used here implies the means, mechanism or method of organizing, executing, manipulating tasks, duties or jobs.
  This Proverb teaches clearly that; in any vocation, trade, practice or career; it is possible to train a novice, the ethics and practice of a profession. But after the period of apprenticeship, journeyman or training, how he practically does his work or carry on with his daily routines; whether he fails or succeeds in his chosen career, is entirely, his personal responsibility.
  In the Labour Market, Fields of Practice, Factories, Workshops, Offices etc. there is huge demand for professionalism, Expertise with Technological Savvy, computer literacy, high levels of performance, results oriented workforce, team leadership qualities etc.
  The individual, as a worker, must prove that he can practice his trade, vocation or profession with minimal supervision. He must carve a name for himself in his chosen career. Parents, relatives, friends, associates, tutors, teachers, trainers, lecturers, religious clerics etc. all contributed to make him successfully graduate from training. Unfortunately, none of them will do his work for him!

  /ETSAKOR PROVERBS ETSAKOR DIALECT: Orere khor ghi orya le emale di okotor ukpade. TRANSLATION: A stranger does not eat with the host to the bottom of the bowl. MEANING: One who is invited to a meal or dinner often eats cautiously or carefully. LIFE APPLICATION:   In different aspects of our social life, every society has codes of behaviour expected of individuals. In the work place there are ethics of standard behaviour that govern each trade or practice. Certain behaviour of some individuals, for example, if not checked, may fall short of the required level of decorum.   Similarly, when people gather in social events such as marriage ceremonies or dinners, there is a standard of behaviour expected of those who are invited. No matter how hungry you are when invited to dinner, your behaviour must not portray you as a hungry man.
