  /ETSAKOR PROVERBS ETSAKOR DIALECT: Orere khor ghi orya le emale di okotor ukpade. TRANSLATION: A stranger does not eat with the host to the bottom of the bowl. MEANING: One who is invited to a meal or dinner often eats cautiously or carefully. LIFE APPLICATION:   In different aspects of our social life, every society has codes of behaviour expected of individuals. In the work place there are ethics of standard behaviour that govern each trade or practice. Certain behaviour of some individuals, for example, if not checked, may fall short of the required level of decorum.   Similarly, when people gather in social events such as marriage ceremonies or dinners, there is a standard of behaviour expected of those who are invited. No matter how hungry you are when invited to dinner, your behaviour must not portray you as a hungry man. MEANING: He that progresses steadily, can also fulfill his destiny. LIFE APPLICATION:   Spectators who watch athletics events in stadia understand the fact that athletes who compete in competitions are endowed differently. And those who run fastest normally win in most races. Most of those who lost out in such competitions are naturally slower runners. Yet, they certainly complete their race, in their own time.    Life is like a race between competitors. The Proverb recognizes the fact that success or achievements in life could be great, sudden and overwhelming. ETSAKOR PROVERB ETSAKOR DIALECT: Uno khor ria ornor mhele. TRANSLATION: Words will not vilify him or her that is good. MEANING: Calumnies cannot damage or destroy the evidence of goodness or virtues in a person. LIFE APPLICATION:   The kind of life we live, whether it is good or bad; it is obvious. It cannot be hidden. The people around us, they know us! They know us by the way we relate with them. These people could be your family, friends, relatives, neighbours, community members, former course mates, colleagues in the office etc. For instance, a person maybe known for one or more of the following virtues: love, kindness, honesty, punctuality, diligence, happiness, justice etc.   Obviously, no man could possibly swim secretly before spectators!
