ETSAKOR PROVERB

ETSAKOR DIALECT:
A gbe okha de, U ri abor danor aku.

TRANSLATION:
Dancing needs to be sustained to the extent of dancing arms akimbo.

MEANING:
In sequential events, where an activity must happen first before it is followed by the other, it is ridiculous to jump into conclusions without a process, activity, or event. This means that there cannot be Effect without a Cause!

LIFE APPLICATION:
  This Proverb uses dancing activity to illustrate an aspect of our human behaviour: 'Judging Causes And Effects' in social relationships. By dancing the arms akimbo style; a dancer expresses tiredness after performing for a long time. In order words, the Proverb implies here, that it is curious for a dancer to express tiredness from the beginning of a show.
  It is common to hear in conversations that: 'there cannot be history without an event'. In relationships, there cannot be altercation without a misunderstanding or disagreement. Subsequently, when a man is offended by his wife's insults or abuses for instance, two common questions often beg for answers under in conversations. They are; 'Did it just happen without a misunderstanding'? Shall a musician dance arms akimbo unless he is tired?
  The Proverb is commonly used in colloquial conversations. It is applicable in many aspects of our lives though. It is important in teaching us to consider carefully our judgements of issues or cases. Specifically, we ought to understand that, it is unreasonable to jump into conclusions or effects when there is no ground, basis, cause or justification for it.
